It's not something she talks about often, but Selena Gomez has endured quite a few health scares in her young life.

Selena has lupus, which is an autoimmune disease with a wide array of symptoms.

In 2017, Selena needed a kidney transplant, and she got one, courtesy of her best friend, Francia Raisa.

Anyone who's ever undergone an organ transplant will tell you that it's not the sort of procedure that enables you to quickly return to your life as it was before.

In many cases, major lifestyle changes are required, and with large organs such as kidneys, noticeable scarring is often unavoidable.

While Selena has openly discussed her transplant on several occasions, she's understandably been hesitant about showing her scar to the world.

So fans were surprised this week when the pop icon posted the swimsuit photo above.

"When I got my kidney transplant, I remember it being very difficult at first showing my scar," Selena captioned the image.

"I didn’t want it to be in photos, so I wore things that would cover it up. Now, more than ever, I feel confident in who I am and what I went through...and I’m proud of that," Gomez continued.

"T - Congratulations on what you’re doing for women, launching @lamariette whose message is just that...all bodies are beautiful."

In that last sentence, Selena is addressing La'Mariette co-founder Theresa Marie Mingus, a personal friend and swimwear designer.

It's fitting that it was a friend who helped Selena feel confident enough to show her scar, as it was a fiend who saved her life by donating her kidney.

"There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa," Gomez wrote on social media at the time.

"She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis."

Selena and Francia had a falling out sometime after their dual surgeries.

Sources disagree on the cause of the spat, but many have claimed that Francia became upset upon learning that Selena was still drinking after receiving her kidney.

That remains unconfirmed, but whatever the case, the friends have since settled their differences.

On Instagram, fans were wildly supportive in their comments, many of them praising Selena not only for her beauty, but for her strength.

"Scar looks like Just another beautiful tattoo," wrote one follower.

"Love you lady, you're a strong one!" another added.

"Thank you for sharing your story with us all. We love you forever!" a third chimed in.

Few public figures who are as young as Selena have endured so much while in the public eye.

It's no wonder that for fans who have suffered similar setbacks, she's so much more than just a singer.

This week, Selena Gomez had a public video chat with Dune star Timothee Chalamet.

But fans of course noticed that she is undergoing some manner of treatment, likely for lupus, a devastating autoimmune disorder.

Selena of course was not trying to hide it.

"Praying for selena’s health and i really hope she’s doing well," one Selenator wrote on Twitter alongside the images.

The tweet continued: "I can't imagine what it is like to live with such a terrible autoimmune disease."

The message concluded, directed at Selena: "sending you so much love and hugs."

In 2015, Selena Gomez revealed that she has lupus.

This rare but debilitating condition exists when the immune system attacks healthy tissue, treating it as an invader.

Lupus requires intense treatments -- in Selena's particularly harsh case, chemotherapy in order to keep her own immune system from destroying her organs.

Unfortunately, Selena also experienced kidney failure during her lupus battle.

Her friend, actress Francia Raisa, offered up her own kidney for the transplant.

Though the transplant was a success, this was by no means a cure -- it simply means that Selena has a functioning kidney.

Another fan noted that Selena undergoing treatment makes it clear why Selena was unable to vote in person this year.

"It’s the fact that selena said she wanted to vote in person and couldn’t 'for certain reasons,'" a tweet begins.

"And then we see she’s being medicated for lupus in her room," the observant fan observed.

Selena has been more outspoken politically this year than ever before.

She has gone above and beyond to encourage her fans and followers to vote -- and she has a massive platform.

Selena also held a live video chat with Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris to discuss important core issues and to help her fans engage.

Hilariously, Selena made the long list of celebrities that Trump's desperate campaign reached out to in order to see if they would participate in a video.

Most of them (including Julianne Moore, whose name appears to be written incorrectly in this screenshot) simply ignored Trump's overture.

Selena took it a step further, giving Trump a hard "no." She's not going to help him to destroy the world.

Selena also used her massive platform for good in June.

Stacey is one of the most respected political thinkers in the country. Selena literally could not have chosen better.

Sometimes, the most powerful thing that a celebrity can do is take a step back and invite someone who is an authority on a topic to speak in their stead.

And sometimes, they can encourage their fans and followers to vote early and in person -- even when their own vulnerable health means that they cannot do that themselves.

This sums up the reaction of quite a few Selena Gomez fans around the world, all of whom agree that the brand new Saved by the Bell reboot just went way too far with a joke about the artist.

This reboot (which has been well-reviewed as a whole) hit streaming service Peacock last week -- and almost immediately stirred up controversy via one scene in particular.

In this questionable scene from the series, a pair of students at Bayside High are arguing about the identity of Gomez’s transplant donor.(Gomez has said it was close friend Francia Raísa.)

“I know for a fact that Selena Gomez’s kidney donor was Justin Bieber’s mom,” one character says, addding:

“God I wish that I had my phone so I could prove it."

“Prove what? That you’re an idiot,” another student replied.

“It was Demi Lovato’s kidney. They’re best friends, like you and I were.”

Then, in another scene, the words “Does Selena Gomez even have a kidney?” appear to be scrawled on the walls in the school’s hallway.

Random, right?

Aside from not being especially funny, it's just very odd that the show aired not one, but TWO references to Selena's 2017 kidney transplant procedure.

She needed this due to her Lupus diagnosis... and it saved her life.

It was a very serious surgery that Saved by the Bell decided to mock.

As a result, the hashtag #RespectSelenaGomez trended on Twitter as fans expressed their outrage over the quips.

“It’s so f***ing rude and insensitive to make fun of someone’s illness just for clout,” one fan wrote.

“This affects a lot of people not just Selena who is either fighting this illness or lost people to it."

"The people making fun of her struggle make me disgusted.”

Added a second viewer:

This is a HUGE lack of respect, not only with Selena but with all the people who are or who have been through the same things as her.

"This matter should be brought up in a respectful manner and not in such a low and dirty."

Aware of the backlash over its lame jokes, Peacock, NBCUniversal and the program's executive producers issued the following statement over the weekend:

We apologize. It was never our intention to make light of Selena’s health.

We have been in touch with her team and will be making a donation to her charity, The Selena Gomez Fund for Lupus Research at USC.

Gomez initially revealed that she had received a kidney transplant from actress Raísa in September of 2017... after being open about her battle with lupus for many years.

“There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raísa,” Gomez said back then as a caption to the image below.

“She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me."

"I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.”

A month or so later, Gomez spoke to Today about the severity of her situation.

"My kidneys were just done,” she said in October 2017.

“That was it, and I didn’t want to ask a single person in my life. The thought of asking someone to do that was really difficult for me. She volunteered and did it."

"And let alone someone wanting to volunteer, it is incredibly difficult to find a match. The fact that she was a match, I mean that’s unbelievable. That’s not real."

Raisa, meanwhile, also addressed this unfortunate situation on social media.

"Some of the cast and producers have reached out to me personally to apologize for this and I truly appreciate that," the actress captioned her Instagram Story.

Raisa continued:

"But I do want to acknowledge that this public apology from the network should acknowledge the donors that could have been offended by this."

She concluded:

"It's not about me, it's about acknowledging the great role that donors play @nbc @peacocktv #savedbythebell."

Well, it  might not be the JB that some fans hoped she'd wind up with, but it's good news nonetheless!

Yes, according to a new report from the Miami Herald, Selena Gomez is dating NBA star Jimmy Butler.

The reports originated from a Twitter account belonging to a user named Chris Piro, who claims in his bio that he's an "NBA insider."

“Jimmy butler and selena gomez weird couple man. Sources: Dude just trust me," Piro tweeted on Monday.

Others corroborated his claim that Gomez and Butler were spotted having dinner at NYC restaurant Lucien, including the gossip page Deuxmoi.

“Seemed like a date,” one eye witness told the site.

“100% sure they were there together. Obvi I can’t speak to if it was ACTUALLY a date, but they were there together.”

"ok ok i know deuxmoi is very unreliable but i love this selena gomez jimmy butler rumor," reads one reply.

Butler is coming off a wildly successful season, having taken his Miami Heat all the way to the NBA Finals.

Meanwhile, Gomez recently endured one of the more difficult times in her life.

The singer was spotted undergoing lupus treatment in late October, and some fans fear that her health issues are more serious than she's been letting on.

On the relationship front, earlier this year, Selena was rumored to have reconciled with One Direction singer Niall Horan, but the relationship appears to have fizzled quickly.

Asked about dating fellow celebrities during a recent podcast interview, Gomez admitted it has ups and downs.

“You know, you’re wanting someone to understand what you’re going through," she said.

"You’re almost wanting a counterpart of creativity as well and it’s, you know, interesting and fun," Gomez added.

In response to the outcry, each of the aforementioned scenes has been cut from the Saved by the Bell reboot, while producers have issued a statement that reads:

"We apologize.

"It was never our intention to make light of Selena's health. We have been in touch with her team and will be making a donation to her charity, The Selena Gomez Fund for Lupus Research at USC."

Fair enough... we suppose.

But while fans have spoken out in her defense and Raisa has even said something (below), no one has actually heard from the star herself.

Until now.

Sort of.

"Selena was really upset by the Saved by the Bell scene about her health and thought of it as bullying and offensive," a source tells Entertainment Tonight of Gomez, who underwent her kidney transplant in 2017.

Added this insider:

"She felt as though her kidney transplant, and others who have gone through that, was used as a joke at her expense."

She felt that way because that's exactly what happened.

Raisa, meanwhile, reacted to the controversy on her Instagram Story by writing:

It's been an eventful week in the life of Selena Gomez.

In addition to the controversy surrounding bizarre jokes about her kidney transplant on the Saved By the Bell reboot, there was also big news regarding Selena's love life.

The singer is reportedly dating Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler.

Neither party has confirmed the romance, but they've been spotted out together on more than one occasion.

On at least one of those occasions, the couple was seen enjoying what's been described as an "intimate" dinner at an exclusive New York eatery.

Selena fans are 'shipping this couple hard, but they're also concerned about the possibility of their girl suffering another heartbreak.

As a result, there's been much discussion on social media regarding the seriousness of this relationship.

Again, Selena and Jimmy are keeping mum themselves, but comments from insiders give us a fair indication of where they're at in their romance.

The rumors began rather dubioiusly, with a tweet from a man named Chris Piro, whose Twitter bio describes him as an "NBA insider."

“Jimmy Butler and Selena Gomez. Weird couple man. Sources: Dude just trust me," Piro tweeted.

Not the most convincing report, but to the surprise of many, it turned out there was some credibility to Piro's claim.

In the week that followed, Selena and Jimmy were spotted hanging out on several occasions.

Now, we have reports from E! News which indicate that while there's definitely mutual interest there, both Selena and Jimmy are looking to take things slowly.

"They hung out a few times while Selena was in New York City. Jimmy asked her to go to dinner and they had a great time," a source tells the outlet.

"It's very casual and she's open to seeing where things go, but isn't settling down just yet."

The insider adds that Selena is "keeping her options open but has been on a few dates with Jimmy and thinks he's a great guy."

The source confirms that Gomez "is currently single but has recently been more open to dating," adding:

"Her friends want to set her up all the time but she has loved being single."

Due to her health issues, Selena has reportedly been extra cautious throughout the pandemic.

"Selena has been very careful with her health this year and has barely left her quarantine bubble," the source says.

"She's been extremely busy working from home on her new beauty line and is very proud to have launched that during a pandemic," the insider adds.

Right now, part of that quest means calling out social media platforms when their abhorrent irresponsibility costs people their lives.

Taking to Twitter, Selena quote-tweeted a video by the Center for Countering Digital Hate.

The video was discussing how sites like Facebook claim to tackle dangerous misinformation, but fail to do so when it comes to lies about COVID-19.

Instead, they allow false news to run rampant, causing entire communities to fester as they wallow in covidiocy.

"Scientific disinformation has and will cost lives," Selena's tweet accurately states.

She continues, tagging the social media behemoth: "@Facebook said they don’t allow lies about COVID and vaccines to be spread on their platforms."

Selena then asks: "So how come all of this is still happening?"

Gravely, Selena warns: "Facebook is going to be responsible for thousands of deaths if they don’t take action now!"

In fact, many have argued that Facebook is already responsible -- morally, at least -- for many of the preventable deaths from COVID-19.

Simple actions like banning COVID-denial groups and creating an easy and enforced report option for COVID misinformation could have saved an unknown number of people this year.

Speaking from my personal experience, I cannot tell you how many times I've tried to report COVID-19 lies and denial this year on Facebook, but to no avail.

I'm not talking about simple misunderstandings, like people who think that masks primarily protect the wearer (they primarily protect others, but can also help the wearer reduce exposure).

From pretending that COVID doesn't exist to Qanon takes on the pandemic to racist and xenophobic lies about the virus' origins, the nonsense is not getting stopped.

Some argue that this is a free speech issue.

To this, we refer to the (below) tweet by comedian and internet personality Justin McElroy: "The First Amendment protects you from the government, not from the Justin."

Facebook may not discriminate based upon certain protected classes, but the social media platform absolutely can remove and penalize outright lies about the pandemic. They just choose not to.

Some argue that the burden is upon the reader, not on Facebook, to determine what is true or false.

It would be lovely if we all lived in a world free of brainrot, where good faith critical thinking skills and a basic understanding of reality were so universal that any of us could filter out false news on our own.

But that is not our reality. Like people allergic to shellfish, some people just cannot handle things that pose no direct harm to the rest of us.

What possible motive could Facebook have for allowing COVID-19 lies to run rampant on their site?

Well, it's the same motive that made the site curry favor with the Trump crime family over the past few years, boosting uncensored false political stories to get gobbled up by the gullible.

Profit. The demographics most vulnerable to misinformation are among the most active on the aging social media site.

Selena has called out social media platforms before, even Instagram -- which is owned by Facebook -- where Selena has been especially popular.

Specifically, she has raised attention to Neo Nazis doing business on the platform unhindered.

This summer, Selena turned over her social media accounts to Black Lives Matter activists and to Stacey Abrams, whom she knew would put the platform to better use during this year's historic civil rights protests.

In addition to consistently using her voice for good, Selena Gomez is an immensely talented singer.

Even before her three solo album or her upcoming EP, her incredible voice was a gift to the world.

Now, she is warning her devoted Selenators of something very grim.

Selena may soon retire from music altogether.

Selena Gomez graced the cover of Vogue, but sadly, not all news is good news.

"It's hard to keep doing music," she remarked, "when people don't necessarily take you seriously."

She confessed: "I've had moments where I've been like, 'What's the point? Why do I keep doing this?'"

"'Lose You to Love Me' I felt was the best song I've ever released," Selena noted.

"And for some people," she added, "it still wasn't enough."

(For the record, her best song ever was "Naturally," but that's not what she's talking about)

"I think there are a lot of people who enjoy my music," Selena correctly observed.

"And for that I'm so thankful," she emphasized, "for that I keep going."

"But I think the next time I do an album it’ll be different," Selena added.

"I want to give it one last try," Selena warned, "before I maybe retire music.”

That is like a blow to the gut for millions of her diehard fans, myself included.

That said, we all want for her to do what is best for her, not what is best for her fans or the very concept of music itself.

"I need to be careful," Selena added.

She explained that she wants to spend more time in a producer role.

Selena also wants to "give [herself] a real shot at acting." Notably, she has been acting for many years.

Though Selena previously performed with The Scene (which is how she gifted "Naturally" to us all), that was not the end of her career.

She released Stars Dance in 2013, Revival in 2015, and Rare in 2020 -- three solo albums.

On Friday, Selena will drop Revelacion, a Spanish-language EP.

"The project is really an homage to my heritage," Selena said of her EP.

She acknowledged: "A lot of my fan base is Latin."

"And," she reflected, "I've been telling them this album was going to happen for years."

"But the fact that it's coming out during this specific time is really cool," Selena expressed.

When it comes to acting, Selena has been filming Only Murders in the Building, a Hulu comedy series.

Selena acknowledged that she has not even "touched the surface" of all of the different things that she wants to do.

It's been almost three years since Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin got married, but they still haven't been together nearly as Justin dated Selena Gomez.

Though their relationship involved many extended "breaks," Justin and Selena were part of each other's lives for nearly 8 years.

So while Hailey undoubtedly knows Justin better now, it could be argued that in some ways, Selena knows him better.

Why do we bring all this up?

Well, Selena's latest TikTok post has fans talking about her most famous relationship and how she might feel about her ex in 2021.

It's important to note that Gomez never mentions Bieber or Baldwin by name in the clip.

But she also certainly knew how the video would be received, and she posted it anyway.

In this case, that might tell us all we need to know.

The video finds Selena at home lip-syncing to what appears to be a film or television clip.

"So, you're telling me that you can read his astrological birth chart, but you can't read the red flags? Sis..." she says (or pretends to say).

Not surprisingly, pretty much everyone who watched the clip (which has now been viewed more than 14 million times) assumed that Selena was referring to her relationship with the Biebs.

"Bestie his name started with a J," one follower wrote.

"'SIS you are the queen of ignoring red flags," another commented.

Now, Selena has dated the Weeknd and European EDM DJ Zedd in the years since she and Justin parted ways, so it's possible that she's talking about one of them.

But it seems like her relationship with Justin is the one that's had the greatest impact on the pop icon.

And the timing of the post might confirm that Selena is referring to Bieber.

Earlier this week, fans were shocked by a video that appeared to show Justin yelling at Hailey following a performance in Las Vegas.

Baldwin has encouraged fans to move on, claiming that the footage was misleading.

"Had the best time surrounded by so much love," Hailey wrote on Instagram, referring to her and Justin's weekend in Vegas.

"Any other narrative floating around is beyond false. Don't feed into the negative bulls--t peeps," she added.

Selena never claimed that she was physically assaulted by Justin, but in a recent interview, she made it clear that other types of abuse occurred.

The critically acclaimed spinoff of The Good Wife is known to be just as topical as its predecessor.

But in attempting to craft jokes about how to craft inoffensive jokes, the show stirred up the Selenator Hive.

Selena heard the outcry and echoed it: please, comedy writers, don't joke about her kidney transplant. Instead, try being funnny.

Season 5, Episode 4 of The Good Fight actually began with a main character being tipped off about an FBI raid of her home.

However, after Christine Baranski and Gary Cole's characters dealt with that crisis, the episode's main story tackled self-aware comedy.

Across multiple scenes, various characters discussed offensive comedy, sanitized comedy, and how jokes can be crafted to amuse without offending.

This led to Marissa (played by Sarah Steele), Jay, (played by Nyambi Nyambi), and Jim ( played by Ifádansi Rashad) discussing offensive jokes.

Though we will provide full context for how Selena's name came up, it began with a discussion of what topics are off-limits for jokes.

With the Selenator Hive abuzz, Selena shared her thoughts on how her life-saving kidney transplant worked its way into this discussion.

The supremely talented singer took to Twitter a couple of weeks after the episode aired to express herself.

"I am not sure how writing jokes about organ transplants for television shows has become a thing," Selena began.

"But sadly it has apparently," she remarked.

"I hope in the next writer’s room when one of these tasteless jokes are presented," Selena expressed.

She hopes that "it’s called out immediately and doesn’t make it on air."

Selena's kidney transplant was a life-saving necessity, one made possible only by the generosity of her friend, Francia Raisa.

Selena has faced a chronic battle with Lupus, an autoimmune disorder in which her immune system targets her own organs.

She has had to undergo rounds of chemotherapy over the years, a brutal treatment.

Her kidney transplant is an understandably sensitive topic. And needless to say, she's not the only one sensitive to this subject.

They are jokingly passing around, among the three of them, "permits" to tell jokes on touchy topics.

"Is there anything we can't do?" Jay asks.

"Necrophilia?" Jim asks, referring to the practice of having sexual relations with a corpse.

"Mmm, no," Marissa answers.

She suggests that "that could be funny." She's not wrong.

Jay accurately suggests that "Autism" could be off-limits. Going to agree with him, there.

"Selena Gomez's kidney transplant," Jim declares.

"Do you think we could get canceled for even joking about being canceled?" Marissa asks.

"Oh, yeah," Jay replies, as if quasi-predicting the backlash to the fictional conversation.

The actual punchline of the scene, or one of the punchlines, is a card.

The idea is that one might joke about teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg.

Wisely, none of the characters actually go through with telling a joke about Greta.

There is an unfortunate tendency among some comedy writers to work in weirdly offensive jokes disguised as conversations.

However, we do have to acknowledge here that there was no joke about Selena's transplant, only a mention of it.

Selena's feelings are hers and she's allowed to have them, but there was no real attempt to joke at her expense, right?

The actual secret to writing comedy that doesn't belittle or mock any marginalized group is ... literally just be funny.

There are a lot of comedians who don't tell jokes predicated upon dehumanizing stereotypes or shock value.

Whether this scene of The Good Fight was in poor taste or a fair and realistic depiction ... that's more complicated.

It's been three years since Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin got married.

But apparently, some fans still haven't adjusted to the idea that Bieber and ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez will never again be "a thing."

We suppose that sort of mentality is to be expected.

After all, fans get attached to celebrity couples, and sometimes, they have a harder time letting go than the actual exes.

But while the continued obsession with Bieber and Gomez is not surprising, the decision of some fans to subject to Hailey to undue harassment is quite shocking.

Like scores of other celebs, Justin and Hailey attended the Met Gala this week.

Unlike all the others, however, they were put in a very awkward position by some overzealous Selena fans.

Interestingly, this year's gala coincided with Justin and Hailey's third wedding anniversary.

Unfortunately, the couple probably won't remember it as a very happy occasion.

Fans outside the venue began chanting Selena's name in a clear effort to get under Justin and Hailey's skin.

It would be a gross move under any circumstances, but it's particularly repugnant coming, as it did, on the couple's anniversary.

Witnesses say the incident left Hailey in tears, as Justin struggled in vain to console her.

All of this comes amid rumors that Hailey is pregnant with Justin's baby.

If that's the case, then the harassment is all the moire shameful.

Sadly, this is not the first time that Hailey has been mistreated by diehard Selena fans.

When Hailey hosted a live Instagram chat back in December, Selena fans went public with their plan to trash-talk her throughout the event.

“[We] need to f–king bombard that s–t with Jelena and how Selena is better. Go after, please, let’s all go after her," wrote one such stan.

“This sad excuse of a human just encouraged people on video to literally go after my wife telling people to say that my previous relationship was better [and] so on and so forth," Bieber responded.

"It is extremely hard to choose the high road when I see people like this try and rally to gather people to bully the person I love the most in this world. It is not right.”

Bieber is 100 percent correct that Hailey does not deserve to be subjected to that sort of harassment -- or any harassment, for that matter.

It's not as if she stole Justin away from Selena, and if she had, these two have been married for several years, which means it's time for everyone to move on.

That said, Bieber could easily take steps to ease the tension by admitting that he was deeply unkind to Selena during their time together.

“I’ve been way too young to be exposed to certain things when I was in relationships," Gomez said in a recent interview, clearly suggesting that Bieber didn't treat her well.

"I felt so less-than in past relationships, and never really felt equal.”

Justin might believe that angry Selena fans are hoping that he'll get back together with the singer, and while that might be the case for some, we would guess that most merely want the Biebs to issue a public apology.

Back in 2017, as you likely remember, Selena Gomez received a kidney transplant from her best friend, Francia Raisa.

Selena has battled lupus and other health issues, and she's been remarkably candid about her struggles.

Unfortunately, one of the downsides to dealing with health issues as a public figure is that random social media commenters see fit to comment on every decision that pertains to your physical being.

And that's the obnoxious tendency that Selena was confronted by earlier this week.

If you follow her on TikTok, then you know that Selena's content is as funny as just about any other celeb's on the site.

Her humor is often self-deprecating, and she's been known to poke fun at the details of both her public image and her private life.

So when Selena made a video in which she joked about her excessive drinking, most of her fans knew not to take the clip seriously.

Unfortunately, it only takes a handful of haters to spoil the fun, and the Debbie Downers were quick to zero in on Selena's latest post.

The clip shows Selena reacting to healthy alcohol consumption guidelines laid out by a doctor.

"The [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] defines heavy drinking as 15 or more drinks a week for men and eight or more drinks per week for women," the doctor says.

Selena cringes and grimaces throughout the clip, implying that she consumes far more than 15 drinks a week.

She captioned the post, "It's a joke," but that still didn't stop the scolds from wagging a stern finger in her direction.

"So one of your best friends gives you her kidney and you continue to drink excessively. Damn selena," one person commented.

Not content to allow a random stranger to chide her about something so serious, Gomez was quick to reply.

"It was a joke ass," the singer wrote.

Selena first shared the news of her kidney transplant during her recovery several years ago.

"I'm very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of," Gomez wrote on Instagram at the time.

"So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering," she continued.

From there, Selena expressed her gratitude to Raisa, who gave her the ultimate gift in the form of a kidney donation.

Yes, it seems impossible that anyone could take offense to a simple skincare routine video, but commenters were convinced that Selena was subtly roasting her ex's wife.

In 2015, Selena Gomez revealed that she has lupus.

This rare but debilitating condition exists when the immune system attacks healthy tissue, treating it as an invader.

Lupus requires intense treatments — in Selena’s particularly harsh case, chemotherapy in order to keep her own immune system from destroying her organs.

Unfortunately, Selena also experienced kidney failure during her lupus battle.

Her friend, actress Francia Raisa, offered up her own kidney for the transplant.

In this questionable scene from the series, a pair of students at Bayside High are arguing about the identity of Gomez’s transplant donor.(Gomez has said it was close friend Francia Raísa.)

“I know for a fact that Selena Gomez’s kidney donor was Justin Bieber’s mom,” one character says, addding:

“God I wish that I had my phone so I could prove it."

“Prove what? That you’re an idiot,” another student replied.

“It was Demi Lovato’s kidney. They’re best friends, like you and I were.”

Then, in another scene, the words “Does Selena Gomez even have a kidney?” appear to be scrawled on the walls in the school’s hallway.

Random, right?

Aside from not being especially funny, it’s just very odd that the show aired not one, but TWO references to Selena’s 2017 kidney transplant procedure.

She needed this due to her Lupus diagnosis… and it saved her life.

It was a very serious surgery that Saved by the Bell decided to mock.

As a result, the hashtag #RespectSelenaGomez trended on Twitter as fans expressed their outrage over the quips.

“It’s so f***ing rude and insensitive to make fun of someone’s illness just for clout,” one fan wrote.

“This affects a lot of people not just Selena who is either fighting this illness or lost people to it."

"The people making fun of her struggle make me disgusted.”

Added a second viewer:

This is a HUGE lack of respect, not only with Selena but with all the people who are or who have been through the same things as her.

Aware of the backlash over its lame jokes, Peacock, NBCUniversal and the program’s executive producers issued the following statement over the weekend:

We apologize. It was never our intention to make light of Selena’s health.

We have been in touch with her team and will be making a donation to her charity, The Selena Gomez Fund for Lupus Research at USC.

Gomez initially revealed that she had received a kidney transplant from actress Raísa in September of 2017… after being open about her battle with lupus for many years.

"And let alone someone wanting to volunteer, it is incredibly difficult to find a match. The fact that she was a match, I mean that’s unbelievable. That’s not real."

Raisa, meanwhile, also addressed this unfortunate situation on social media.

"Some of the cast and producers have reached out to me personally to apologize for this and I truly appreciate that," the actress captioned her Instagram Story.

Raisa continued:

"But I do want to acknowledge that this public apology from the network should acknowledge the donors that could have been offended by this."

We all love this. And not only because the very casual message is a popular one.

But sometimes a dose of reality from a legendary hottie can reach a different audience. That matters.

As someone recovering from disordered eating explained to me years ago, some people can’t “hear” most body-positive messages.

Someone in a grips of an anxiety disorder about their body feels overwhelmed with fear of losing “control.”

Disordered eating gives them a false sense of control. Listening to plus size heroes won’t change that.

A dose of reality from someone who they know meets conventional Western beauty standards can make a difference.

This doesn’t just apply to people with ED. Anyone can struggle with body issues.

If you already consider someone a regulation hottie and then they show a more “honest” look at their body, it can be a wakeup call.

Selena is famous and wealthy and beloved. If she wanted to, she could only let people see her at her “best.”

We love the sentiment behind her simple little TikTok. Clearly, her followers did, too.

Hailey, however, says that things are all good. Despite the awkwardness of it all.

Hailey Baldwin Bieber spoke on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast.

There, she insisted that there is “no drama” between her and Selena Gomez.

She added that she and Selena have spoken during the four years since Hailey married Justin. The beef, she says, is in people’s heads.

“I respect her; there’s no drama, personally,” Hailey clarified.

“So that’s why I’m like, it’s all respect, it’s all love,” she emphasized.

Hailey is not willing to divulge the details of her past conversations with Selena, but explains why.

A few years back, Selena’s kidney transplant and Lupus struggles gave Justin Bieber the hook that he needed.

He managed worm his way back into speaking terms with her.

It was not long before the two were going on creepy Hillsong “church dates” together, with Justin reportedly convinced that God wanted the two of them to marry.

Fortunately, that did not last forever.

About four and a half years ago, they split.

A very short time later, the Biebs was hanging out with Hailey. Soon, he had proposed.

“I can say, period, point blank, I was never with him when he was in a relationship with anybody,” Hailey confirmed.

She added: “that’s the end of it.”

Hailey then confirmed that it is “not [her] character to mess with someone’s relationship.”

Honestly, we doubt that many people thought that there was cheating. Just a weirdly brief intermission.

Truth be told, among the Selena stans whom I know (so this is anecdotal), most people just think that Justin was unfair to both women.

Despite some complex history involving Hailey’s husband, Justin Bieber, she said that things were good.

Some misguided Selena stans have been sending Hailey hate, however, both before and after that interview.

Selana is not holding back when she asks people to to stop sending “vile” hate.

Selena Gomez took to social media this week because she has seen at least a small percentage of what people have said.

She is keeping it vague. Possibly because she knows that calling attention to hate sometimes recruits more haters.

No matter what, she would like for it to stop.

“I think some of the things that I don’t even need to be aware of,” Selena assessed.

She noted that these hateful statements “are just vile and disgusting.”

“And,” the talented singer and phenomenal actress noted, “it’s not fair.”

“And no one, ever, should be spoken to in the manner that I’ve seen,” Selena affirmed.

“All I have to say is, it’s incredibly ironic that I would release something that is all about kind words,” she remarked.

Selena then emphasized: “’cause that’s exactly what I want. That’s it.”

Selena noted that vicious hatred and mockery are antithetical to the values that she espouses, including her beauty line.

“If you support Rare,” she said, “I cannot thank you enough.”

“But,” Selena continued, “know that you are also representing what it means.”

Selena spelled it out: “And that is — words matter. Truly matter.”

All of this hatred can really impact people’s experiences online, their self esteem, and their mental health.

And Selena was sure to remind haters that she doesn’t want them attacking anyone on her behalf. Ever.

“So, it ain’t comin’ from me,” Selena quipped to her fans and to anyone else listening.

“And I just want all of you to know,” she expressed, “that I hope that you understand that this is much bigger than anything else.”

Selena then expressed: “And I’m really grateful to all of you for hearing me out. So, have a wonderful rest of your day.”

So, Selena did not name any names. What is she talking about, here?
