Taylor Swift's infamous "shut the f--k up" comment at the MTV Video Music Awards was not actually about Harry Styles, her friend Ed Sheeran says.

Sheeran said in an interview that Swift's "STFU" remark, caught on camera as the One Direction singer was speaking, looked bad, but was not what you think.

It was not aimed at her ex, but at her best friend Selena Gomez, who said seconds earlier that she thought Miley Cyrus was going to win Best Pop Video.

In response to that comment, Sheeran says, Taylor Swift told her to "Shut the f--k up" as a means of saying Gomez will win the award (which she did).

Sheeran added that Swift came up to him after realizing this blew up online and explained what happened with Selena, noting that "I messed up."

So ... Taylor is not a vindictive ex, but rather a good friend?

Not as good for celebrity gossip, but better for society!

Justin Bieber has been sending Ariana Grande flirty texts, and that behavior dates back to when he was dating Selena Gomez, a new report indicates.

Ariana also gets the privilege of texting with Justin Bieber, who she's toured with. Grande recently revealed the moment they first exchanged texts:

“Justin’s the most famous contact I have in my phone,” the 20-year-old recalled to M Magazine. “I felt so cool when he started texting me."

"I didn’t believe it was him at first. He wrote, ‘What’s up cutie?’"

"I dropped my phone and thought, ‘That did not just happen.’”

Among other flirty comments, she added that “I did a cover of ‘Die In Your Arms’ and Justin tweeted it and said he liked it and that meant the world to me."

“The fact that he did that means that he thinks I have some credibility as an artist. I’d love to work with him one day, I think he’s adorable and amazing.”

All of this is reportedly upsetting for Selena Gomez to hear.

Even though she’s busy on tour right now, and that picture of Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande kissing was innocent and old news, it's getting to Selena.

Says a source close to Gomez: ”Selena is still not over Justin, not even close. From what all her friends are saying, she’s still majorly hung up on Justin.”

But the singer has still been banned from performing in Russia due to her outspoken support of gay and lesbian rights, a major no-no in that nation.

Russia recently passed laws barring advocacy of the LGBT community.

According to The Moscow Times, officials have made entry for artists such as Selena more difficult because the country has strict restrictions against the promotion of “nontraditional sexual relationships.”

In response, Lady Gaga has bashed the Russian government for its “criminal” stance on gay citizens, while Madonna is being sued for her support of the LGBT citizens there.

Gomez had been scheduled to perform in St. Petersburg on September 23 and in Moscow on September 25.

And gay rights activist John Becker, who started a Change (dot) org petition asking Selena to speak out for gay Russians when she took the stage there, is aghast at this development. But also encouraged.

He said in a statement to E! News ...

"This cancelation of Selena Gomez’s visa shows that the Russian government is sensitive and on the defense, and shows that the pressure from people all around the world and the backlash against these laws is strong."

"They’re afraid to have someone like Selena Gomez come in and potentially use her platform to advance LGBT rights."

Don't expect to see Selena Gomez Twerking or getting naked just to sell tickets. Okay, maybe a little Selena Gomez Twerking, but relative to her peers?

Let's just say Rashida Jones didn't have the head Selenator in mind when she called out Hollywood celebrities and told them to stop being whores.

In a nod to her good girl image, the former Disney Channel star told fans at her sold-out show at Mohegan Sun Arena Saturday to be true to themselves.

The "Come & Get It" singer's November 28 performance will also kick off the Salvation Army's 123rd annual Red Kettle campaign, its iconic holiday drive.

It sounds like Selena is one of those people.

Earlier this week, a rumor spread that Selena Gomez would be moving in next door to Justin Bieber.

But the singer now says her ex-boyfriend is not the person with whom she wants to hang out in the near future. Instead, that person would be... herself.

Selena Gomez Cancels Australian Tour Leg

Gomez announced yesterday that she has canceled the upcoming leg of her Australian tour, explaining the decision in the following statement:

"My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them. But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be."

The young artist has come across as a bit tense and testy lately.

She cursed and stormed off the stage while having sound difficulties during a recent concert in Los Angeles.

An individual close to Gomez says tells People the singer is okay, just in need of a hiatus.

"Selena is fine, she's in a great space," the source says. "She's looking forward to spending the holidays with her family."

The 21-year old has recently played 55 dates across the United States and in Europe as part of her "Stars Dance" tour, which concluded on November 26.

"She's been on the road for six months and she's just ready to be normal and at home with her family," the source added. "She's been working nonstop since she was 15 and wants to take a minute to herself."
